The Aga Khan Foundation’s International Scholarship Programme (AKF ISP) offers a valuable opportunity for outstanding scholars from select countries to pursue postgraduate education in first-world countries. Established in 1969 by His Highness the Aga Khan, this program has supported over 1,000 students to date through a competitive application process.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The AKF ISP is available in countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, India, Kenya, and more.
  • Applicants must be young professionals under 30 years of age.
  • Preference is given to Master’s programs but also considers applications for PhD studies.
  • Awards are provided based on need, with applicants encouraged to secure multiple funding sources.

Application Procedure:

  1. Applications for the 2024-2025 award cycle open in early January 2024 and close on March 31, 2024.
  2. Eligible candidates can confirm their eligibility using the eligibility tool on the AKDN website.
  3. Completed applications should be submitted to the local units of the Aga Khan Foundation, Aga Khan Education Services, or Aga Khan Education Board.
  4. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
  5. The award structure includes a half grant and half loan, with a repayment requirement of 50% of the award amount.
